Mr Pink Pantry Moth Trap

For Control & Prevention see below

Mr Pink Pantry Moth Traps are an easy to use, no mess, perfectly safe, odourless solution to breaking the moth life cycle. The all natural pheromone based trap has absolutely no poison or pesticides and the Moth Trap is a perfectly safe no mess solution to get rid of moth infestations.

The Trap uses a sticky board, impregnated with moth pheromone – moths follow the scent and become trapped, breaking the moth life cycle.

Important Note :

The Pantry moth and Clothes moth are two different types of moth, therefore the pheromones used are different for each moth and only attract that moth. A Pantry moth trap will not attract Clothes moths, and a Clothes moth trap will not attract Pantry moths.

Why do we need Pantry Moth Traps ?

With New Zealand summers becoming longer and more temperate and humid we have seen an increase in pantry moth populations.

When you are faced with a Pantry Moth infestation its best not to spray pesticides or poison sprays into food storage areas.

Pantry moths and flour beetles (weevils) will contaminate almost all dry foods, including cereals, porridge, pet food, dry fruit and herbs & spices.

They present themselves in a larvae form before moving into a pupae and then a moth.

They chew minute holes in plastic, paper and cardboard packaging and consumers are often surprised to find them in a previously unopened product.

Pantry moth infestations, quickly breed to cause major household wastage often running into several hundreds of dollars.

Traps should be used in multiple locations – kitchens, kitchen cupboards and dry food areas.

Control and Prevention

You don’t need to throw out all your food, but you do need to take some steps remove the problem.

Pantry moths will contaminate almost all dry foods, including, cereal, grains, beans, nuts, flour, dried fruit, seeds, spices, porridge, pet food, dry fruit herbs, even chocolate and sweets.

Dried pet food is one of the worst culprits, if you store elsewhere ie garage you need to have a Mr Pink Pantry Moth Trap there.

Infestations are evident when you see moths, or you see like cobwebs in food packets.

You may also see them in a larvae (covered like a cobweb) or pupae form (like a fly maggot). Inspect the threads on screw top jars and the groves on clip on lids.

They chew minute holes in plastic, paper and cardboard packaging and consumers are often surprised to find them in a previously unopened product.

So now for elimination and prevention steps

If you have adjustable shelves check the little holes in the sides of the pantry and I can just about guarantee that there will we what looks like cobwebs in some or all of the holes. These are the larvae. Clean out all the holes with a toothpick or similar.

Now look in the cracks where the shelves join the walls (above and underneath) and at the ceiling and floor, the larvae are often there. Again, with toothpick or similar clean along these areas.

Now let’s look at the food. Any at risk food or food you suspect place in the freezer overnight to eliminate any problem. If the food has very bad infestation, I am sorry you probably need to throw it away.

With the above steps you will greatly reduce or completely remove the moth problem but as a preventative, monitoring measure we would recommend continued use of Mr Pink Pantry Moth Traps.

PS if you get glue on your hands or cat its easy to remove with vegetable oil
